Strength Ties That Bind

River City Strength has one new review!

Whelp.

We finally got our very first 1 star Google review.

Whomp whomp

My initial reaction was that it must’ve been an accident. It’s happened before.

After reading it, this particular person has never trained at RCS before. He hadn’t even stepped foot in the gym or even talked to one of us.

Turn down your music. Tell people to be quiet.

Essentially, that’s what it said.

I figured the first negative review would be from my proclivity for profanity:

bald man’s babblings sandwiched between bookends of bad-words.

*Tongue effectively twisted*

But that’s the thing, we aren’t for everyone.

We’re for adults that want to be a little stronger and healthier and fit it into their lifestyles.

There are so many health and fitness paths to take and it is important you find one that fits you.

Better Balance

Just moving through space is going to help BUT if you aren’t doing specific strength training, your muscle will decrease and impact balance.

Balance is all about coordinating your bones around in space. Strength training increases intermuscular coordination and keeps fast twitch muscle fibers, so you’re able to coordinate and react to changes in space quickly.

Drop Body Fat

Eat in caloric deficit BUT if you aren’t doing specific strength training, you’ll burn more muscle than fat.

Muscle mass takes more energy to maintain, so if you’re body is trying to shed excess weight to burn energy it’s going to start with any excess muscle tissue. The only way to change this is by using the muscle you do have (strength training) to cue your body to keep it!

Run a Marathon

Do long distance cardiovascular training BUT if you aren’t doing specific strength training, over time your muscle will decrease and will impact your performance.

Steady state cardio although important for cardiovascular health does absolutely nothing for muscle mass and power production. The muscle tissue of a 70 year marathon athlete is the same as a 70 year who’s never exercised. The problem is that steady state doesn’t create enough strain on muscle fiber. If there’s no outside resistance to tissue it has no reason to get stronger or bigger.

MOST IMPORTANTly

There are a million different ways to get healthier, the most important thing is to find the one you’ll actually do when getting started.

BUT, what ties every single aspect of health and wellness together?

Strength training.
